Blessed are they with wi-fi...

...particularly at the end of a stressful evening of arguing with your flatmate about the whys and wherefores of life and all that nonsense. You know, it's one of them things, who do you think would turn up at your funeral, and if you were there, what would you say to them? Who was it that published their own obit just to find that out? Can't remember, but the joy of wi-fi is that I can sit here in bed and ponder that sort of stuff.

My country is Kiltartan Cross
My countrymen Kiltarten's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Nor leave them happier than before

So, 44, lingering on in a room the size of a postage stamp. Has it come to this? I am minded to get some more tattoos, more stars to symbolise change, a tear for the price. Another night, another arguement, another semi-reconciliation, back and forth. But it was a great day today. Work was good, felt right at home, knew what I was doing, everything was within my capabilities, and after last night, the way forward was clear. Need to take it a bit gentle, but felt pretty happy.

And the above question? Who would I need there? L1, L2, D, K, ST. L3. Start with you, L1. We had so much, I believed in you, in what you said, the ideas you had, the potential that you thought I had but never elucidated. And then, at the exact moment when I was about to step off the precipice, you said no, can't be bothered with this anymore, in fact, recently I've been on a couple of flights and blokes have spoken to me, so clearly that is the way forward, flights that is, for meeting people, so I'm off. And that trip to Stuttgart that I invited you on - you can forget about that. And the trip we have booked together to go to London just after Christmas? I'm still going on it, but I'm getting a different room and you're not allowed to mention the L word or anything like that, even though we are going to spend a week together, ok? Cheers for that.

The others? Another time perhaps. L3 - thank you. Not going to tell you anything, not going to drag you into it, lets start afresh, have some fun. Please?

Ay, they heard his foot upon the stirrup,
And the sound of iron on stone,
And how the silence surged softly backwards
When the plunging hoofs were gone.

Whether?

Just watching the clouds scudding across the sky. The views aren't as heady as they were from the 16th floor at Sutton, where we seemed to spend quite a lot of time talking about the weather, as they are from the 1st floor of an Aberdeen office block, but the clouds still scud...

I love to hear the wind whistle through the trees and feel the rain on my face.

Tra-la-la

Well, hi again. It's a lovely day up here, sunny, lightly overcast, bit of a cool breeze but hey, who's counting?! Day 5 of the new job, so far so good though I seem to have a bit of a sore throat, perhaps from the aircon. Or perhaps from the speed session last night. First one for absolutely several millennia, but it was good. Took it at a steady pace, 14 x 400's, 1 min recovery, all very pleasant. And very pleasant to catch up with a load of old and new faces.

Off to London on the 1st Dec - for some wanton debauchery and partying. Flight is booked, hotel is sorted. Looking forward to that funnily enough...

Busy weekend before that though, marshalling at a club 10k first thing in the morning, entertaining my boy in the afternoon, shopping, trial Christmas meal in the evening - entertaining friends with a Thai theme, then off to the country for a long cross country run on Sunday, followed by a relaxing lunch somewhere out in the sticks and spend the afternoon reading the papers and chilling out. Well, that's the current plan anyway!

See you later alligator!

Sturm und Drang

So yet again a weekend has gone by without doing much 'me' stuff. My flatmate went into hospital on Friday unexpectedly, so I had to rush around getting things for her, speaking to her father, friends, etc. Trying to keep all the plates spinning. Had a plan to do some work on this blog, see how to add the links and a site counter and all the purty stuff that makes a page look good. Instead spent it drinking cheap red wine and letting other people get things off their chest. I am a goddam social service, me. Hey ho.

But I did spend a very nice Sunday evening in the company of a beautiful blonde. She cooked supper - squash, chorizo, chillis, in a tomato sauce, and I provided the New Zealand sparkling white - muy pleasant, and a smooth red, together with a box of Belgian chocs, and we just chilled for a while, talked about everything and nothing. And then spent a hot few hours together - bath with some of Lush's finest products, bath bomb, honey soap, smooching, generally getting very hot and sweaty! Ha! And I'm seeing her again on Friday as well as going shopping and out to lunch on Saturday, so I'm having a great time, thanks. Then I will be getting on a plane in the evening back up to the Grey Toon, and it will all come to a juddering halt for a bit, until I can get back down to see her again. Fuck.
