Well, I dunno

Well indeed, that's been quite an interesting few days. Handed in my notice at work last week, moving back up the road to the Grey Toon to a fancypants new job, ticks all the right boxes, even though I was enjoying my sojourn in London. Hells teeth - all change again! Still and all, London will be there for a while, available for future visits so to speak. So I packed everything up bar enought to keep me going for the next couple of weeks, chucked it all in the back of a hire car and drove off into the night. Via Kent and York, as one does, to pick up a few choice items which I bought on Ebay recently - there is always time for shopping! Total mileage about 800. Eventually got back to the flat, food shopping first order of the day as my flatmate hadn't had time to stock up (yeah, right), then shower, and create a very nice Thai red curry stir fry with fresh noodles and veg. Yummy! Washed down with a vodka and orange or two. Healthy y'see, orange juice that is... At which point my pal came round on his way into town, with a suggestion of accompanying him. So my evil angel knocked the quiet night in plan on its head and off we went. Beer! Wine! Beer! Oww my head! Thusly a more relaxed Sunday was required. Looked at a flat my flatmate is thinking about buying. Went out with my boy and bought him a mobile phone - chuffed to bits he was with that. Usual Sunday activity type things.
And the real highlight of the week? I've been talking to a fellow blogger, first email, then Messenger, text, finally a phone conversation. A gentle escalation. Actually, as far as blogging is concerned, she is up there in the stratosphere compared to this minor effort, but I'm hoping she can sort me out. If you know what I mean. Lots of ideas!!! We even have a date of sorts planned, subject to the madness that is public transport these days. Hope it goes well, she is lovely and amusing. (Gulp!) Almost forgotten what you do when you meet in 3D? All hints and tips gratefully received. And she blogrolled me! Me! I need a lie-down in a darkened room! Validation! Over use of exclamation marks!!! I feel so grown up. (Blush!)
And that creates another problem. Having taken most of my wardrobe back up the road, what do I wear? Help! Panic! And since Amsterdam I've done nothing but eat all the pies and drink all the beer I'm feeling lardy. So get out on the road Mog and get some miles in or else it won't be your sparkling wit and double entendres that will be impressing her. Drastic measures are called for. Fingers crossed (always a good strategy when all else fails) that it goes well.

Ta-ra!

Saigon. Shit

So, that was Capt. Willard's view on it all. Echoed by mine recently. Handed in my notice today. It's been a struggle. Yes, the new job is good, nice people, fancy offices, a great day rate, but it is back in the grey toon of endless darkness and training through the cold wet winter in full kit. I am sad to loose my friends here, the London life that I have picked up, but I've got to go back and deal with stuff. Stuff. As my pal pointed out, the issue is that I've so thoroughly moved beyond it all the struggle is to go back and revisit it, understand the issues and sort them out. Signed the letter to sell the house this weekend, for instance. Pack up, put things in storage. Upsides? Less commuting by plane, time for training and study. And travel. Nice weekends away for instance. With the odd marathon thrown in. The London adventure is over.

Went out for supper this evening with my dad, his partner, and my brother, who's wife to be has had some sort of breakdown. Not good, and puts some of my problems in perspective. On the walk home from the station, it rained. I love walking in the rain, even if I use it to echo my mood. And now, sitting at my desk by the window I can see occasional flashes of lightening. Delicious!

Wonder what the forecast is?

So, detail stuff tomorrow. Lists. So tedious.

Done and dusted!

Well, Amsterdam is all over now. 3:34:49, which was not too bad, all things considered, like, erm, the complete lack of any focused training recently after my WHW escapade. I x 10 Miler race, a 10K and several runs home from work with a daysac does not a structured training programme make! And now my legs are sore and I have a cold, which was starting before I left and I suppose being run down during the race has made it worse. A curry and a Sicilian red last night seemed to have cured it but to no avail. Feel like crap this morning, despite the universal cure all of a Lemsip. Boo hiss. Consequently I'm not in the mood for work, if I ever was this week. What to do?

Still, time to focus on the next big run - 50 Miler in California in April. That's going to be fun, I think. 24 week training programme, and need to get it right. Not much room for error there.

Off to get my haircut tonight - Kevin in Victoria no less. Something needs to be done and he is the man to do it, apparently. Recommended by a lady friend, and I like her hair so hopefully he can do something for me. Then some more red? What do I think? Quite probably! Might even treat myself to an early bed, after done the hoovering and what not. God, do I know how to live! Please, please, someone rescue me!

moggytales: moggytales

moggytales: moggytales

Hmm, not often I have stuff to yap about and when I do, Blogger seems to be down. Never mind. Have been wondering whether to turn this blog into an observation on the witty and wonderful things other people have had to say. Could be the way forward.

The way forward for me this weekend is off to Amsterdam for the marathon - looking forward to that! No idea what time I'm going to do, haven't done any training recently and in particular any speedwork so it is going to be totally suck it and see. There will be a bunch of us from the club going, so off to the pub afterwards for a post race celebration, of course. Had a few runs home from work recently, which happily confirmed that everything is working fine and just as advertised, despite carrying a daysac the size of a small house. Still have loads of strength from the WHW training, and had a good rest afterwards. Need to check up on the weather forecast.

On another note, boring bloke from Bournemouth, one of my so-called house mates in the hovel I live in is back. And boring me with tales of his trip offshore. Mate, it's not a shared house, it's where I live. That doesn't mean you can bore me with the tales of your boring life, nor can you use my steamer when I'm out. Wanker. And clean the fucking bathroom once in a while, why dontcha, I've even bought two easy peasy spray bottles of bathroom cleaner for all to use.

1 hour to go then I'm away for the weekend - day off tomorrow, and luxury of luxuries for us scabby contractors, a paid one! Woo-hoo!

Cheers m'dears! Love you all!
